Fjord-like landscape

The Uri Fjord is the southernmost part of Lake Lucerne. It fascinates visitors with its steep rock faces and deep blue water. Surrounded by the peaks of the Uri Alps, it resembles a Norwegian fjord. It is considered one of the most impressive natural landscapes in Central Switzerland.

Schillerstein

Schillerstein

The Schillerstein, also known as Mythenstein, is a striking rock formation rising from the water at the entrance to Lake Uri. Originally, the rock was 40 metres high, but it was reduced by one third after falling rocks posed a danger to passing steamboats.

Rütli – the cradle of Switzerland

The Rütli Meadow is regarded as the cradle of Switzerland and a place of great national significance. According to tradition, representatives of the founding cantons of Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden met here to form a secret alliance. The Rütli Oath symbolises the joint resistance against Habsburg rule and the beginning of Swiss history.

Tell Chapel / Tellsplatte

Tellsplatte

The Tell Chapel stands on the Tellsplatte, on the shores of Lake Lucerne, and commemorates the escape of William Tell. The present chapel was built in the 19th century. To this day, it remains an important symbol of Swiss history.

Swiss Path with Adventure Tunnel

Along Lake Uri, the Swiss Path partly follows rock arches, wooden walkways and stairways built directly into the mountainside. The Harderband Adventure Tunnel is located between Isleten and Bauen. Various interactive installations inside the tunnel provide insights into Swiss history, natural phenomena and current topics relating to sustainable development.

Reuss Delta and Flüelen

At the southern end of Lake Uri, the landscape opens up at the Reuss delta. Reeds, wetlands and the mountain panorama around Flüelen create a striking contrast to the rugged shores further north.

Fronalpstock

The Fronalpstock is a mountain at 1,922 metres above sea level in the canton of Schwyz on Lake Lucerne and is considered one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the region. From the summit, visitors enjoy a spectacular panorama of the lake and the surrounding Alpine landscape. The Fronalpstock can easily be reached by chairlift or via various hiking trails and is a popular excursion destination around Lake Lucerne.

The Wind Channel

Treib-Seelisberg Railway

The Treib-Seelisberg Railway is an electric funicular railway that has connected Treib on Lake Lucerne with the elevated village of Seelisberg since 1916. During the short journey, passengers enjoy impressive views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.
